SUNDAY CLAY — HIGH FIRE!

Details: All skill levels are welcome to the VAC ceramic studio, where they will be working with stoneware, clay and high-fire reduction glazes. Those new to clay will be guided step-by-step through the basics of using the potter’s wheel or hand-building techniques. Continuing students and those with previous experience are encouraged to develop their skills and are welcome to pursue more advanced directions with the instructor’s helpful input. This eight-week workshop is slated for Sundays through Sept. 30, with no class Aug. 12. Cost for either session is $200 or $180 for VAC members, plus a $15 materials fee. MAKE YOUR OWN PICKLED VEGGIES AND YOGURT

Details: Learn the step-by-step process of making your own fermented vegetables and probiotic-rich yogurt. Class will focus on lactic-acid fermentation, or fermentation by naturally occurring anaerobic bacteria, and also discuss the health benefits of fermented foods. Participants also will how to make yogurt at home using the dairy of their choice, and we will discuss methods for dairy-free yogurt. WAIHO‘OLU‘U OLA INDIGO DYEING WORKSHOP
